-Resistive Touch Screen:  IdolPad comes with Resistive touch screen.  Generally, we are not a big fan of this Resistive touch screen but IdolPad has Multi-Touch resistive which makes it good enough to navigate without stylus pen.  Zoom with pitch in and out and it's responsive enough to play angry birds and other popular games.

- GPS/Bluetooth: GPS & Bluetooth are not available.

- Camera: It has a 0.3 megapixels front facing webcam.  Camera resolution is pretty grainy, not high definition picture quality.

Better than I expected..
on 01/28/2012 by Anonymous
Very good wi-fi reception... and most apps can be stored in the external SD card. I only wish there was more documentation, or a forum.. a good buy..
not an iPad but pretty legit for the price
on 01/31/2012 by Anonymous
This thing is pretty legit. I've only had it for a day so far so this review will be updated again later on.
Just to give people an idea, I'm a student. I don't work for Idolian or anything, and came across this tablet while trying to find the cheapest yet best quality tablet possible, for under 200.

I ordered the tablet straight from the Idolian website (who manufactures this). I'm assuming you will probably receive the same items by ordering from amazon.
Here's some info about what I received:
-7" tablet with mini C (I think) HDMI port, 2 micro USB ports, micro SD card slot, an on/off switch (for wifi), headphone jack, and webcam
-the tablet runs on 2.3 Gingerbread Android OS
-1 micro USB to female USB cable adapter
-1 micro USB to male USB cable adapter
-wall charger

Also- if you buy a micro SD card from their website with your purchase, it comes with an adapter to convert it to a normal sized SD card.

The Actual Review:
The tablet itself has a middle "back" button, home, power, and menu buttons.
It does not come with Android market installed, but you can easily install the market by googling and downloading it on the phone's browser. Android Market appears to work fine and I have not encountered any issues downloading apps.

RESOLUTION: (+/-) The screen looks a bit low resolution, but I expected that for the price. It's not that bad. I guess if you watch a youtube video on a normal computer with 360p/240p resolution, that's what it would look like on the tablet. Clearly, you will not have iPad-esque HD graphics because the iPad is a 500 dollar device while this is much, much cheaper.
Honestly, with a 7" screen, the difference in graphics for HD vs something lower in res will not be that big of a deal.

WEBCAM: (?) I haven't tried the webcam yet, but since it is only 1.3mp, I would not recommend relying on this camera to pursue photography.

EASE OF USE: (+) Upon receiving the tablet, I was able to easily hook it up to my wifi in the same way that I connect to wifi on my android-based cell phone. The Android OS on this phone actually looks identical to the one used on phones, except it cannot be used to make phone calls (obviously)

TOUCH SCREEN: (+) The touch screen on this tablet is resistive (unlike the iPad and many cell phones, which are capacitative). What that means is that the screen will not respond to "two point touch" (where you can use two fingers to zoom in and out on other devices). The screen does not need to be touched by fingers to respond, and can be used with a stylus. The good news is that the screen is very responsive, and the keyboard works fine without a stylus. I use my fingers to control the touch screen and I haven't had any issues.

APPS: (+) This is the main reason to buy pretty much any Android tablet. After setting up Android Market, I tested the tablet by downloading a bunch of necessary apps. Netflix works great on this tablet! (This is a huge plus). Skype chat works (although I have not yet tried video chatting, but the app runs fine). The MAIN reason why I bought this tablet is because I'm in med school and need to constantly review loads of power points. This thing helps me save paper and time. I downloaded an app called "office suite" and transferred by power points (ppt files) to the tablet. Power point is now viewable on my tablet, with notes, and the ability to zoom, and I am thrilled. :)
Youtube's app runs as well.

SOUND: (-) The sound on this tablet sucks. First of all, there is no sound button on the side of the tablet, and the only way to increase or decrease sound is through the touch screen menu. This can be annoying while watching a movie or browsing youtube. The sound was extremely low when I first tried it out, even when increased to the maximum. I had to download an Equalizer app in order to get the sound to an acceptable level of loudness. Even once increased to a normal level, the speakers sound very cheap and full of static (but then again, this tablet was inexpensive, so that should be expected). The sound quality doesn't really improve by much with the use of headphones. I wish they had improved the speakers, but I guess this was the only was they could sell the tablet for so cheap. Because of the speaker quality, my rating of this tablet is 4 stars and not 5.

SPACE: I believe the tablet itself comes with 4GB of space, and you can expand space available with up to a 32 GB micro SD slot.

BATTERY LIFE: (+) I can't comment much on battery life yet, as I've only had it for a day, but I've kept the tablet on for about three hours of light to medium use and still 2/3 of battery life left.

SPEED OF WIFI: (+) The tablet has B/G wireless speed. B/G are a few years older than the most recent "N" speed wifi, but they work fine. The speed of the wifi on this tablet is acceptable, and netflix and youtube don't appear to run with lag.

HDMI: (?) I have not been able to try the HDMI on this tablet, but I will eventually update this review once my HDMI cable comes in the mail. Perhaps the sound issue will not be as problematic after connecting this tablet to HDMI (since that sound would be transferred digitally).

FINAL VERDICT: If you are broke or simply cannot justify spending hundreds of dollars on a tablet, then I highly recommend trying this tablet out. The touch screen works great (most cheap tablets have bad touchscreens), the battery life is good, the internet is fast, and Android market works great (some cheap tablets cannot run the market or netflix). This tablet is great for students who want to lounge around while studying or who want to go to the gym and study on the treadmill. It's small, and portable. The only major issue is the speaker/sound (which might not be as bad if it is hooked up to HDMI, but I will update later).

Don't expect an iPad if you buy this because there's no way you can compare a >500 dollar system that runs on more expensive hardware (and which uses an LED backlit screen) to this little tablet (which uses a TFT LCD lower res screen). But even this tablet has an HDMI port, which to my understanding, the iPad doesn't have. Additionally, you can get WAY more space on this tablet with a micro SD card, than you can on the iPad for a fraction of the price. So if you want an iPad, then buy an iPad. But if you want a reasonably priced tablet for basic stuff and to help you run errands, then buy this.
Great buy
on 01/31/2012 by Anonymous
It is a great buy for the money, uses almost all the latest apps. The Wifi reception is exceptional, and
I was able to use the battery for more that 3 hours, and still had some charge. The web cam is not bad for
1.3 resolution.. I would definitely give it 5 stars if the USB connection worked..

I have yet to hear back from IDOLIAN with a solution to the USB problem..
Revision to 5 stars 3 hours later..

if one looks at this site [...]

it tells you to drag the usb connected icon from the top left to the middle of the window
then a menu appears and you net to click Turn on USB Storage..
5 Stars for $99 and full function
on 01/31/2012 by Anonymous
The ONLY drawback to this is the resistive touch screen versus a capacitive touch screen. Full Android market access, sound, camera, microSD, and everything else is excellent. This was purchased to replace my wife's dying ereader and give her more functionality. It is a complete win. This is not an iPad, but is still excellent. If you want to play games you might not like the screen responsiveness, but otherwise an excellent tablet. Simply an unbeatable value.
My Idolpad Rocks!!!!
on 02/01/2012 by Anonymous
True that this is no comparison to an iPad and the resistive screen is a down side to others, but so far so good overdo here. All smiles I bought a Gpad tablet that could never hold a candle to my Idolpad. The game play is just fine on mines, all ports work just as well. Has real Android market, video chat works, cameras not that bad at all (could have used a zoom in and out feature) still its great despite that. Great sound didn't need to add any kind of amplifier app, screen responds with finger touch as well as stylus. I've only had my Idol for about 4-5 days now but so far so good. Great price came super fast I love it. Perfect buy. If no problems occur in the near future being that my Gpad crashed almost 2 weeks after buying it. I'll be happy as u was when it arrived. 5 Stats all around. Pros: Real Android Market, 1.3mp camera, can video chat (yahoo), clear sound, good touch response, great wireless signal, 4-5 hour work time depending on what's being done, came ready to use, good price, perfect buy if you don't mind the miner issues. Cons: Doesn't charge battery from usb, no zoom in or out on camera, for some reason it won't let me access the full websites it sends me back to the Google web search. Other than that it works fine. All and all I love it. This post will be upgraded after a month or so.

Hi I just received it and so far I'm in love with it I am actually writting from the tablet right now !!!! I love everythingb about it from memory life to the quality :) of it
Acceptable at this price
on 02/10/2012 by Anonymous
The speed to run the program is nice, but the touch screen is not good enough. The first charge of battery took 48 hrs, and run with WIFI turn on for only 3 hr. Stream Video is working at normal resolution, not HD. WIFI connection is stable. (Not try the USB connection yet.)
I Love, Love, Love This!
on 02/14/2012 by Anonymous
I absolutely love this device! I never bought into the whole tablet idea, just because they were so expensive and I just didnt want to spend all that money. But when I began to search for more affordable tablets and compared several of them and saw the price and all the features for this one, I HAD to get it! And now I HAVE to get another one since my Assistant begged me to let him keep the first one. The item description says it all. Its definitely the best tablet on the market right now, in my opinion, for those with smaller budgets like myself. Its better than the Android phone I have and its the real Android Market.

Cons - Charging/Keyboard
The only complaint, which is Minor, is that sometimes the unit won't charge when I plug it in; but that is fixed by switching to a different outlet. No explanation.

Once or twice the External USB keyboard stopped working in the middle of me typing something. It was fixed by turning the unit off and back on via the switch on the right side.

So all in all, GREAT device; I've had it for a week and now will be buying another for myself since the other one just walked out the door, lol.
Great tablet
on 02/16/2012 by Anonymous
Just arrived today had a few hours to play with it so far purchased it for a bday present for my son. Let me just say i seen the video review and decided to give this thing a try and wow am impressed by this tablet. I recently purchase the koby kyros 7024 for my other son as a christmas gift and let me say that thing doesnt hold a candle to this tablet. Video chat thru skype wasnt bad, shockingly the screen is actually really respondsive for a resistant screen. the only gripe i can say about the tablet is speaker quality is not so great but for $99 bucks really cant complain, But this is my review in my first few hours of using the tablet will update in a week or so.
Flipping Awesome
on 02/17/2012 by Anonymous
This Tablet called Idolpad is pretty awesome! I give it Four stars for Three reasons..

1. The sound quality is so so... If I were to rate it, I would give it a 7/10... It's not really a big deal actually. If you have a good headphone, then you're pretty good, As for me I have a "Decent" headphone that I bought for 40 dollars... Off topic huh? Anyway the sound wasn't good for me...

2. The second reason I gave this a Four was because you CAN'T Root this device and you can't even install a custom rom =/

3. The third reason is the Touch screen... Of course is not going to be quick like an Android phone, the Iphone or the Ipad, the touch screen does well but, it isn't for me... It also comes with its own Stylus which works pretty good... The only reason the Touch Screen is a problem because I'm afraid that I might damage it because of my fat fingers lol The screen replacement cost 30 bucks... and Pinch to zoom is quite slow... But a double tap is much better..

The following were 10/10

1. It has the "official" Google Market with a bunch of Apps unlike other cheap tablets that don't offer the real market.

2. Youtube works pretty well, not the best resolution but its okay.

3. The Browser is extremely fast!! (According to your connection) All websites works.. Amazon, Facebook, MSN.... and So On.. It comes with Flash Player and it works wonderful.

4. The device itself comes with 4 GB of memory.. I have a 16 GB card so with the device it became 20 GB.. I must buy the 32 GB ASAP for more Storage ;)

5. It doesn't come with an HDMI cable but since I have one for the PS3, I tried it on my HDTV and it works quite good.

6. The webcam is quite decent, not the best but overall pretty good... 3/5

7. I will update this review as I spend more time with it... ANY QUESTION YOU HAVE, YOU CAN ASK AND I'LL TRY MY BEST TO ANSWER...

LAST BUT NOT LEAST... I am a very happy customer... :)
Can't beat the price
on 02/21/2012 by Anonymous
Well I have had this tablet for a week now, must say it works very good at this price point. Testing is still underway and will report all findings soon. Look for the unrestricted review on YouTube this weekend. The above post is wrong as well, I do have this tablet rooted already. As for a rom, I'm still working on a ICS 4.0.3 RELEASE. ROOT AND ROME VIDEO COMING SOON!
NEW IdolPad
on 02/23/2012 by mabeka2
A great buy for $99.  I did have an initial problem with loading apps, customer support responded quickly and matter was fixed with a quick reset.
I am an owner of a Droid X so am familiar with the android market.  I have been able to download all the
apps I need.  Beware of Angry Birds, it is addictive!
I am looking forward to the new OS release in the future.
The resistive screen is really not an issue, unit come with a nice stylus.
The only constructive criticism is battery life.  I usually have to recharge in about 3+hours.
Have a great day!

The idolpad was better than expected.  Great for the money. Worked for 3 weeks then died. Will not turn on.  Still waiting on support to get back to me so I can return it.  Hopefully next one last longer.

Idolpad
on 04/13/2012 by harville3
I ordered two of these as a test. I gave one to my daughter and assigned the other to an employee. The one I gave to my daughter she loved. It did everything she was looking for it to do. She loved the aspect of having the full Android market and to be able to facebook, netflix, and play games with her friends. The one I assigned to an employee we have done a weeks testing and the apps we were all using on our smarphones are there and work perfectly in the enviroment we needed. Only concern we had was the Resistive screen on the Idolpad. Have placed an order for a TurboTab C8 with the Capacitive screen to see if it fits our needs better. All in all the Idolpad has been a wonderful and useful tool. My only fault to Idolian is the lack of customer support and communication. If there customer support were as good as the product I could see this company going very far and making alot of people happy with tablets that are affordable and great to use. Will post a review of the TurboTab C8 as soon as I have received it and had some testing time. My rating of 3 stars does in no way reflect upon the tablet itself. I rate the customer satisfaction of product and company in one rating. If rating seperately I would say tablet 5 stars and customer support and communication at 2 stars.
third tablet since february.
on 06/07/2012 by lynn
I am currently on my third idolpad since Feb. Have had to return the first 2 within 2 monthes. Just received my third one 2 weeks ago.  Now having problems getting it to connect to my wifi. Should have spent my money on something with better quality. NOTHING BUT HEADACHES!!!
